learn about ball valve

the ball valve
what is ball valve??
Ball valve is one type of quarter turn valve, is quite literally a ball placed in a passageway through which fluid flows. The ball is controlled from outside the valve, often with a handle that is turned 90 degrees, or a quarter turn, back and forth to open and close the valve.A ball valve can also be a three-way valve if a third hole is bored partially through the ball, until it meets the main hole, forming a T.
ball valves are the three different types of rotary valves used in industrial plants. They are widely used in fluid-handling systems for flow control. These types of rotary valves are suitable for corrosive applications. They are used in detergent, pharmaceutical, chemical, rubber, pulp and paper plants, water treatment systems, textile mills and food processing plants, In general, ball valves offer many advantages when contrasted with other valve types. They provide superior ease of operation and can maintain and regulate high volume, high pressure and high temperature flow. Most ball valves offer rugged construction providing for a long service life, and a comparably low cost. Additionally, the design of the regulating element allows the valve to function without the complications of side loads, typical of butterfly or globe valves, and the valve design permits inspection and repair of seats and seals without removing the valves’ body from the line.

Do u know how a Slide-Check Valve Works

In fact, I am just new here, and i don't know more about valve. however i can see them everywhere in our daily life. Today i saw a website that introduct Slkde-check valve works. I feel interest in it, so i want to share to all of you.
When the slide is forward, the entire line, from the tank to the marker valve chamber is pressurized (see Fig. 1.) The blue color depicts the high-pressure gas. In the Forward Position, the marker is ready to fire.
When the slide is back, there is no pressure in the line between the marker and the slide-check. In the Back Position, the marker can be removed from the remote, without de-pressurizing the entire line or having to turn off the tank (see Fig. 2.) The line between the tank and the slide-check remains at tank pressure as depicted by the blue color.

Valve introduction

A valve is a product rarely noticed by the average person, yet it plays an important role in the quality of our life. Each time you turn on a water faucet, use your dishwasher, turn on a gas range, or step on the accelerator of your car, you operate a valve. Without modern valve systems, there would be no fresh pure water or automatic heat in your home.

There would be no public utilities, and beyond wood and coal, almost no energy of any kind. Plastics would be unheard of, as would many inexpensive consumer products.

By definition, a valve is a device that controls the flow of a fluid. Today's valves can control not only the flow, but the rate, the volume, the pressure or the direction of liquids, gases, slurries or dry materials through a pipeline, chute or similar passageway. They can turn on and turn off, regulate, modulate, or isolate. They can range in size from a fraction of an inch to as large as 30 feet in diameter and can vary in complexity from a simple brass valve available at the local hardware store to a precision-designed, highly sophisticated coolant system control valve, made of an exotic metal alloy, in a nuclear reactor.

Valves can control flow of all types, from the thinnest gas to highly corrosive chemicals, superheated steam, abrasive slurries, toxic gases and radio active materials. They can handle temperatures from cryogenic region to molten metal, and pressures from high vacuum to thousands of pounds per square inch.
